Jess and Rob told me the plan for their wedding at the Great John Street Hotel was to be a fun and relaxed day, and that’s totally what we got. With both Jess and Rob being big Leicester City fans, we had a tense start to the morning. Once the game was over we started getting ready with the wedding nerves kicking in. The wedding ceremony was held out on the top floor of the Great John Street Hotel, so after documenting the guys I headed over for some preparation images with Jess and her family. It’s always good to have a room with plenty of space for the morning photos and this was even better as it had a prime position for a sneaky look of the guests arriving outside.
During the ceremony they decided to go for a reading of the John Cooper Clarke poem I wanna be yours, (Also recently covered by Sheffield boys the Arctic Monkeys) certainly a good reading to get everyone laughing. Instead of having confetti they decided to get loads of wool balls that everyone could throw as they exited the service which was certainly fun and different. They had plenty of ace details including a wonderful cake from Little Button Bakery featuring the quote “I wanna be yours” and custom Peg cake toppers featuring not just Jess and Rob, but also their 3 cats.
Luckily the Manchester weather was on our side so after some time with friends and family (and a couple of drinks) we headed out to the street below to capture some fun urban portraits. Taking in the old and modern surrounds that Manchester had on offer. Following the wedding breakfast it was time to get the party started, so after the cake cutting the band kicked in for the first dance with everyone hitting the dance floor for the night.
I had chatted with Jess and Rob about shooting something a little different for a night time portrait, so just after the wedding breakfast I popped out to have a look and spotted an ace selection of lights on a new build office block. Once the light had gone down I grabbed Jess and Rob for a quick 5 minute wander round the corner to capture a great moody night time portrait.
