Laura and Barry had a lovely village hall wedding over at Hackthorn. They had some lovely vintage details styling and decorating the hall to match the feel of the day. Hackthorn is a small, well, tiny actually, village on the outskirts of Lincoln. Theres plenty of character, and history, with loads of different spots for photos, and has a really nice welcoming feel.
Laura picked a stunning Jenny Packham dress, which had 1920’s beaded styling, and for a bouquet a heart shaped pearl and beaded custom piece. The guys picked grey suits with a nice mint bow tie, and custom named pocket scarfs. Laura arrived in a Herbie VW beetle, with Barry (after putting the finishing touches to setting up the Village Hall with a little help from good friends Ben and Steph) heading over to the village in a decorated mini. The church was decorated with fresh petals and mini tea lights along the aisle giving a nice cosy feel. After the ceremony it was only a very short walk to the village hall for drinks, and some ice cream from the vintage Ice Cream van Betsy, which seemed to go down really well in the heat of the day. The hall was filled with loads of custom DIY details using plenty of mint coloured accents.
They had a lovely afternoon tea, with champagne and berries, along with some lovely cakes. This worked perfectly in the village hall, with the splashes of colour and lovely “tea cup” flower centre pieces with splashes of purple. After the food and speeches, we went for a little walk to get some couple and bridal party photos (along with a family of ducks jumping in for some photo bombing!) before the evening guests arrived for the second part of the day.
The evening began with a set by the indie folk duo The Natterjacks. They started with a nice mellow set to get everyone slightly warmed up, there was a slight short break while an evening hog roast was served, then the party kicked off with the cutting of the cheese cake, and the Natterjacks stepping it up a gear for a full on lively dance floor filling set. Slipping a good mixture of their own tracks as well and some great original takes on some folk, and indie classics. Loads of great elements coming together to make a wonderful day. I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of the story…
