I met Lauren and Sam at the Victoria Baths wedding fair, one of my all-time favourite venues. Not only because I got married there, but because of the light, the space and no matter how many times you visit you always find something new and interesting. I jumped at the chance to shoot their wedding at Victoria Baths and just knew these guys would be fun to shoot.

We met for their Northern Quarter pre-wedding shoot on a dreary rainy Manchester day, because when isn’t it raining in Manchester? Quickly grabbing a drink and escaping the rain at 57 Thomas Street. The weather didn’t stop us from getting some amazing shots in the always diverse Northern Quarter and surrounding Ancoats. There’s a reason Manchester is always used in films and TV series. (Peaky Blinders, Captain America) The architecture is ever changing and down every street, there is a perfect gritty backdrop which is perfect for urban wedding and engagement shoots.

They turned up looking ace and were luckily both naturals in front of the camera, after a few street shots we ducked into a cool looking chippie to get some shots. They had mentioned Roisin Murphy’s mental album cover of her in a cafe as their inspiration so we couldn’t let the opportunity pass. We managed to get some great shots even if some of the customers popping in for lunch were perplexed.

Wrapping up the day we talked about their plans for the wedding at Victoria Baths and I left super excited for the day to arrive.
